Vacancies at SMI Interconnect
Every wiring loom that leaves our facility ends up somewhere it cannot easily be reached again. Inside a vessel, an aircraft, or equipment operating in conditions that punish
anything built to a lower standard.
If you take pride in getting things right rather than getting them out of the door, you will recognise the culture here quickly.
Current Vacancies
We recruit across production, inspection, engineering and commercial roles as our manufacturing grows. Take a look at what is open now.
Why work for SMI Interconnect?
Proper training, to industry standard.
All our production staff are trained to IPC J-STD soldering, IPC-620 for crimps and shielding, and IPC-610 for PCBA soldering. These are recognised, portable qualifications, not in-house shortcuts. If you join us without them, we will get you there.
Small enough that your work is visible.
We sit deliberately between a traditional subcontract manufacturer and a high-end engineering provider, which means the responsiveness of an SME with the process discipline of a business supplying demanding industries. Nobody here is an anonymous pair of hands.
Controlled, well-run environments.
Semi-cleanroom and specialist assembly areas, dedicated harness production zones, and structured testing and inspection. Our ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certifications shape how the floor actually runs.
Genuine variety.
One week a prototype batch for a new customer product, the next a volume run against an established build standard. Six sectors and constant new product introduction work.
Thirty years of heritage behind us.
SMI Interconnect operates as its own focused business, supported by the wider Systems Manufacturing capability and its long track record in precision cable systems.

Nothing quite right?
We recruit regularly, and we would rather hear from good people early than miss them. Send us your CV to recruitment@smi.group with a short note about the kind of work you are looking for, and we will keep it on file.
Attention to detail, patience with intricate work and a willingness to follow process carefully matter more to us than sector background. You do not need previous defence or aerospace experience to join us.
No agencies, please.
